Welcome to January 2024

It always seems to take a few days to get into the new year, while clearing up after Christmas. One idea — don’t throw away all the wrapping paper. Keep it for collage, scrap or just spare paper to practice on!

There is plenty in store for 2024, although as our ‘business’ year starts in April, we don’t have the full programme for publication yet. There are some tasty Demonstrations lined up, though.

January events

Wed 10 Jan 2024 – Drop-In Session – Community Large Hall –  Details

  • As usual, our friendly group of artists will be working on their projects at the Community Large Hall in Hursley Road. If you’ve got something you want to focus on, and can’t settle at home, why not try this morning event ?

Sat 13 Jan 2024 – Workshop – Church Hall – Jake Winkle – Going Wild in Watercolour – Details

  • Workshops are booked up many months in advance, and the bookings for this last quarter were sent out in the autumn. If you are keen to take up a place should it become available, contact Roy. I confess I really was interested in this one, but with no watercolour equipment, I had to pass…

Sun 20 Jan – New Year Lunch event (closed)

  • If you have booked but not paid, I’m sure you will get an email to remind you very shortly. Otherwise, I’m looking forward to seeing people at this event (don’t let that put you off)

Wed 24 Jan 2024 – Zoom Demonstration – Rebecca de Mendonça – Figures in the Landscape Details

  • Details of this demonstration (on Zoom) are now available, and worth checking out. I think it will be fascinating.

Sun 28 Jan 2024 – Life Drawing –  Church Hall 2-4pm Details

  • The church hall will hopefully be warm enough for our life model throughout this afternoon session. My bet is that it’s the most likely Sunday for snow, so let’s see.
