Heather Jolliffe – 9 Sept

Oils, palette knife and colours workshop

Saturday 09 September 2023 –  9.30am-3.30pm

Church Hall adjacent to the Dovetail Cafe – Location

A workshop day to explore the specifics of using oil paints – Heather will be using water mixable oils, but the same can be done with traditional oils – alongside palette knife painting, and her simple colour use approach with a few warm and cool colours.

As well as getting the core information to enable you to paint with oils, Heather will be showing how to use palette knives effectively to create your own paintings. Heather will cover some mini demonstrations throughout the day to illustrate her points about the medium, the painting tools and the colours and colour relationships  she likes to use.

Heather will cover some simple landscape and coastal scene compositions, with an aim that you will make some mini studies, followed by something more substantial.

Heather is a trained painter and teacher of many years, full of practical tips and advice to enable people to gain more confidence with their drawing and painting skills. As the Hampshire coast is her childhood birthplace and now her working place, she is constantly inspired by the local Solent coastline – sunny skies, blue seas, saltmarsh walks – much of this is present in her painting.
