Curtis is an artist, performer, poet, writer and educator. He has been drawing for magazines, books, advertising, newspapers and packaging for the past 32 years and has had 23 of his own titles published.
Curtis Tappenden provided the Group with a phenomenal demonstration entitled ‘A Potted History of Circus & Art’ earlier this year and will be providing a monoprinting workshop for us on Sunday 10th March starting at 0930.
Monoprinting or monotype printmaking is popular with artists, allowing a ‘unique’ one-off print to be made from any surface known as the ‘plate’. The process involves drawing and painting directly onto the surface of the plate and taking a print from the created image. Exponents of the medium include Edgar Degas, Paul Klee, Paul Gauguin and Tracey Emin.
Curtis will guide participants through a range of different water-based, black and white and colour monoprint processes which aptly match subject matter to method to produce a portfolio of lively prints by the end of the workshop. It is open to all abilities, where the experimental nature of the print processes determine that artists cannot make mistakes, they are merely delivering creative, visual expressions! This day is guaranteed to be pacy and fun and learning is guaranteed.
